The LaSalle Banks Chicago Marathon
I ran this marathon for the first time in October 2000. It is a very flat course and the people are GREAT! The race is very well organised and actually a positive experience to run. I am going to run it again this year!!
Le Marathon des Sables
The Sand Marathon. I wish to attempt this race in the next couple of years!! The race is an ultra-marathon (150 miles) run over 7 days in the Moroccan Sahara desert. This will be a true test of my endurance and training.
Bataan Death March
I want to run the 2002 Bataan Death March marathon held at the White Sands Missile Range, in New Mexico. The race is in April and in desert conditions. It shall be a challenge especially if I decide to do a "heavy" division race where I will have to carry a 35 pound backpack!!
Kiawah Island Marathon
I want to run the 2001 Kiawah Island marathon on Kiawah Island, SC. The race is in December. I plan on running it with the Rome Runners Club
Atlanta Half Marathon
I did this half marathon for the first time last year. I did it again this year. It is a small race (around 8,000 runners) and very few spectators. It is well organised and plenty of support personnel are available. Most importantly, it is on Thanksgiving day! Gobble gobble!!
The Peachtree 10k Roadrace
The Peachtree 10k is I think the most popular 10k in the south-east. Held every year on the 4th of July, there are usually around 50,000+ runners! I have run this race thrice and I usually treat this as a "fun-run" since it is impossible to run for time in such crowded conditions. The race is well organised overall though.
The U.S. 10k Classic
This is a very good 10k with nice hills to make the course a bit challenging. It is held on Labour day every year. It is smaller compared to Peachtree but still a good size race. Again, pretty well organised. A bonus is that the runners get a free entry pass to the Whitewater Park (where the race ends)… it makes for a nice swim after the race.
